Nike Explores Texture and Tone with the Air Max 95 “Soft Yellow”

Since first hitting shelves in the mid 90s, the Nike Air Max 95 has gone through countless reinterpretations, evolving far beyond its original performance roots. For its 31st year milestone, Nike continues to push the silhouette into new territory, with this “Soft Yellow” edition leaning into subtle experimentation rather than bold reinvention.

Dressed in a Soft Yellow, Alabaster, and Metallic Silver palette, the colourway immediately sets a calmer tone. At a glance, it feels clean and tonal, but a closer look reveals a more layered approach to design. The upper blends multiple materials, with smooth leather panels reinforcing the toe and side areas, giving the shoe a more structured, premium feel.

Adding contrast without relying on colour, select sections along the side panels introduce a textured fabric that stands out through pattern alone. The scale like finish brings a slightly elevated, fashion driven edge to the classic shape. Small metallic silver hardware details are placed along the sides, subtly echoing the miniature Swoosh stamped at the heel.

Below, the midsole carries a lightly aged look that pairs naturally with the soft upper tones, while the visible Air units appear slightly clouded to maintain the muted aesthetic. Rounding out the design are fabric laces with a silky finish, replacing traditional flat laces and adding a final touch of texture. It’s a detail that fits the overall direction of the shoe, reinforcing the more considered, fashion forward approach taken with this release.
