Nike Continues To Expand The Total 90 Air Max 95 Lineup

Nike’s Air Max 95 “Burgundy Crush & Metallic Gold” is the latest colourway tied to the brand’s ongoing Total 90 inspired Air Max 95 series, a run that quietly pulls design cues from Nike’s early 2000s football era and applies them to one of its most recognisable silhouettes.

Where earlier Total 90 Air Max 95 releases leaned into sharper contrast, most notably black and gold combinations, this pair takes a more restrained direction. The entire upper is dressed in deep burgundy tones, allowing colour depth and material variation to do the work rather than bold blocking.

Across the shoe, the layered panels move through slightly different shades of burgundy, gradually shifting as they work from the mesh base to the smoother synthetic overlays. Smooth leather on the toe box and mesh through the tongue give way to panels with a subtle sheen along the sides, creating a quiet visual change as light hits the shoe from different angles. It’s a tonal approach that feels intentional rather than decorative.

Metallic gold accents are used sparingly, but effectively. A small gold Swoosh sits toward the heel, while matching gold “Air Max” branding appears within the visible Air unit. These touches reference the performance focused heritage behind the Total 90 name, while staying understated enough to keep the colourway grounded.

The midsole continues the burgundy treatment, housing Nike’s Big Bubble Air cushioning, a feature that has become central to the current Air Max 95 updates. Rather than standing out, the Air units blend into the darker palette, reinforcing the idea that this pair is about cohesion rather than contrast.

Compared to the Black version, the Burgundy Crush edition feels warmer and more tonal. It’s less about versatility and more about presence, a colourway that leans into depth, texture, and subtle detailing instead of sharp visual breaks.

The Nike Air Max 95 “Burgundy Crush” (IB8630-601) continues Nike’s steady reworking of the 95 through the Total 90 lens, offering a richer alternative within the series.
